Client Symbol List Files
Symbol List Files (SLFs) are utilized by the EnergyView & GlobalView clients to provide descriptions for each spot instrument (symbol). Each instrument has a code or symbol that identifies it as unique within the GVSI database. The SLFs provide text based descriptions for each of these symbols. For example:
Platts distributes their data using a symbol such as #PCACG00.
#PCACG00 has the description of "WTI Cushing 1 Month"
It is the symbol list files that control those descriptions in both the GlobalView client and server. Periodically, as data changes (adds, deletions, customizations), these SLFs need to be updated. To update your SLFs follow the link needed for either client or the server version.
Review the list of data providers below, and determine which ones you require. If you are not sure contact technical support, and we will gladly assist.
Instructions for updating your machine are as follows:
- Click on the link representing the data source you would like to update.
- Save the file to your computer ensuring you remember where you save them.
- After the download is complete go to the downloaded file and double click it to open the archive.
- When the archive opens select the extract button.
- Select your c:\Tal\parm directory (Or wherever your GlobalView application resides) and select OK. This will update your current Symbol list files with the most recent versions.
Please check back often for the latest updates.
