Components

The MarketView suite of display components provides feature-rich functionality to display, track, and analyze real-time and historical prices along with news and proprietary information. Each component can subscribe to streaming data published by the GlobalView data servers and can be completely customized to meet the visual preferences of the user. MarketView even allows for fully customizable fonts and foreground and background colors in each component for a more dynamic display. Written in Java, the components can be used within the MarketView framework or can be integrated into customized web site applications. The current release of MarketView includes the following components:

Quote View
Quote View is a spreadsheet style grid of symbols with user-defined data fields. The symbols are displayed in the left most column with the data fields across the top row. Quote View provides an easy way to list rows of symbols along with associated data updating on a real-time basis. The user can determine the symbol list and related fields for viewing and change them dynamically. The user can also quick pick commonly used futures from the drop down list in symbol chain mode.

Chart
Charting provides graphical displays of real-time streaming and historical time series prices as well as optional calculated technical studies for analysis. The user can determine the symbol list and related fields for viewing and change them dynamically. Time series can be displayed in all desired frequencies: trades, intraday, daily, weekly, and monthly. Seasonal charts can be configured for year-on-year comparison. Just send the chart directly to a configured printed for a quick print out or copy the chart to clipboard and attach to an instant message.

News
News headlines are displayed with real-time streaming updates within a split window. When the user double clicks on a headline, the story is displayed within a lower window panel or a pop-up window. Content can be specified using filter tools, source, keyword, category, and ticker symbol. Users can now use the alert function to keep abreast of breaking news stories based on their preference.

Table History
Table History displays real-time streaming and historical time series prices values in a tabular format as well as optional calculated technical studies for analysis. The user can determine the symbol list and related fields for viewing and change them dynamically. Time series can be displayed in all desired frequencies: trades, intraday, daily, weekly, and monthly. Create seasonal charts for easy year–on –year comparisons.

MarketView Instant Messaging
The collaboration component is a powerful tool for colleagues to share information. It allows individuals to collaborate and share ideas via online discussions as well as distribute information including news stories, prices and charts. Group permissioning means that members can securely send messages and request private conversations with others.

Spreads
The Spreads component displays a tabular representation of pre-defined formula calculations accessing real-time data. Formulas represent data in Individual, which apply a spread formula to one or more symbols, and return a single value; or Chain format, which apply a spread formula to every contract in the chain and also supports inter-month calculations. All prices represented are live and streaming.

Forex Grid
The Forex Grid component displays a tabular representation of real-time currency exchange information, based upon the Composite Foreign Exchange spot data. Users can select two or more of the following exchanges: U.S. Dollar (USD), British Pound (GBP), Euro (EUR), Japanese Yen (JPY), Swiss Franc (CHF), and Singapore Dollar (SGD). Each element in the table shows the spot price for the given column vs. row. All prices represented are live and streaming.

Quick Calc
MarketView’s spreadsheet-like component offers basic math and simple calculation functions, if-then-else logic, and linked fields in the interface which supports 130 rows by 26 columns. QuickCalc allows MarketView users to create a free-form display in tabular representation of user-defined formula calculations. All prices represented will update live with streaming real-time data.

User-Defined Formulas
MarketView allows users to create personal symbols that can be defined with a custom formula. Each newly created user-defined symbol can then be used in any QuoteView, Chart or Table History component and can be easily saved and accessed via the drop down symbol selection dialog box. Users can create formulas using the controls provided on the screen or by directly typing the formula into the formula window. Any symbol can be added.

Alerts
MarketView Alerts notify the user of price or news events that match pre-set criteria. Users can set up individual alerts and are then automatically notified both visually on the desktop and audibly using individual sound bytes for each alert set. Each given alert may be promptly displayed in a MarketView display component using the quick launch feature. Criteria for price alerts include: Last, Previous Last, Open, High, and Low; based on user-entered value, or value set by the user (supports both absolute and percentage values) and new volumes. News alerts may be set to monitor headlines, contents and information sources.

World Time
The World Time component provides an instant view of the current time in many time zones around the world. It can be configured with favorite zones for recall when needed. Users can display the current time in multiple cities choosing from many locations around the world.
