GlobalView Software Inc.® introduces Indicative Data from Amerex
New Data Partnership will allow for Greater Price Transparency for US Electric and Natural Gas Industry
Chicago, Houston, June 30, 2004 - GlobalView Software Inc., the leading provider of data management solutions for global energy markets, announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Amerex to redistribute and market their power and natural gas indicative information. Amerex accounts for a substantial portion of the brokered over-the-counter (OTC) transactions in the natural gas and electricity markets in North America. Companies involved in power and natural gas trading require both historic and current market data to price products and services, manage their risks and perform valuations for compliance reporting and disclosure purposes.
"As the industry is demanding fully auditable pricing in the face of Sarbanes-Oxley and Basel II regulations, it is now imperative to have immediate access to accurate and comprehensive market pricing data.” said Jon Olson, Chief Executive Officer, GlobalView Software Inc. “ Transparency and liquidity are essential for the very viability of today’s energy trading firms. With the addition of real indicative pricing from Amerex, to our current ability to deliver Prebon indicative pricing, we’re assisting our customers in their efforts to comply with industry regulations. ”
With delivery via GlobalView’s recently launched product MarketView, users will have access to Amerex’s OTC power and natural gas transaction data covering volumes, pricing, delivery points and any basis trades for producers, users, utilities, generators, marketers and traders. This information, paired with Prebon indicative data already available from GlobalView, will not only provide the basis for a more accurate daily mark to market, but will also serve as a basis for settling swaps and more accurate forward pricing.
“Because Amerex brokers a significant percentage of the North American Gas and Power OTC trades, access to this information is essential in capturing an accurate view of the market. With their aggregation technology, GlobalView will be able to provide their customers with unmatched market coverage using state-of-the-art technology.” said Mike Prokop, Senior Vice President of Amerex Energy. “We foresee extensive market distribution as companies seek to integrate this data into their trading operations as well as their middle- and back-office systems. GlobalView provides premier distribution, aggregation and integration into their customers’ systems.”
